In UK, when we had a full home redecoration works, we had to empty out and move to a rented house for 6 months. The building contractor had our empty house to work with.
Every morning, we visited and lit an oil lamp in our puja room.
However the builder insisted that before his team finishes each day, the oil lamp should have completed, to avoid fire risk overnight in an empty house !
This is part of the regulation in the UK.
